How to Market a Memorial Business in the UK

How to Market a Memorial Business in the UK What grieving families actually type into Google, and why most memorial businesses are invisible to them Marketing a memorial business is unlike marketing anything else, because your customers do not know your industry exists. I work in the direct cremation industry. Part of my job is speaking with families, and one thing comes up again and again. Someone will tell me what their mum wanted. Not in industry terms. In her words. “I want to be scattered at sea.” “I want to be planted with my roses.” “I’ve been told I’m a fire-cracker all my life, so I want to go out with a bang.” “I want my ashes taken abroad.” “I want to be scattered with my pets.” Those are real things people have said to me. And here is what happens next. The family comes home, opens a laptop, and types that sentence into Google. Not a version of it. The sentence itself, more or less exactly as it was said to them. That is the whole marketing problem in this sector, and most memorial businesses are on the wrong side of it.
