The Memory Tree Co operates York’s first dedicated memorial woodland, located 5 miles north of the city centre near Haxby. Families choose a native or ornamental tree — oak, maple, cherry and more — which is planted in the woodland with ashes scattered or interred at the base. A personalised plaque is included, and the site is open for visits at any time with no booking required. A one-off fee covers the tree, plot, and ongoing maintenance indefinitely.
